Lansing’s Westside is one of the most socio-economically and
ethnically diverse areas in the region, and home to the area’s
highest concentration of locally-owned businesses. The area
is also rich with unique historic assets— with homes dating
back to the late 1800’s, commercial buildings from the 1920’s,
and school buildings such at the Michigan School for the Blind
(whose most famous pupil was Stevie Wonder).

Since 2003, residents and businesses have been working
together to revitalize this key urban area, which is the link
between Downtown and Old Town and between Delta
Township and East Lansing. From the 1920’s until the 1970’s,
Lansing’s Westside was a major shopping and dining
destination.

Lansing’s Westside is now being reborn with enjoyable and
prosperous business and residential areas, serving residents
of nearby neighborhoods, downtown employees, those
traveling along Saginaw and Oakland and others coming to
experience our wonderful restaurants,
events and historic and
cultural amenities

The goal of the
Westside Commercial Association is to create
enjoyable and prosperous business and residential areas on
Lansing’s Westside.
